My clients hospital is a 24-Hour Animal Care Center that provides diverse services to the community, including walk-ins, routine care, emergency care, urgent care, massage therapy, a canine blood donation program, and a service dog registry program. The organization is deeply involved with local organizations and has created a supportive and enjoyable work culture focused on maximizing patient care.
Position Overview:
They are seeking a full-time Associate Emergency Veterinarian to join their team. This role requires a compassionate team player with strong communication skills, proficient in emergency medicine and surgery. While experience is preferred, new graduates seeking mentorship are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Provide emergency and urgent care to a variety of animal species (e.g., dogs, cats, birds, reptiles).
Perform emergency surgeries and medical procedures.
Maintain compliance with Wisconsin State Statute Chapter VE 10 for continuing education.
Ensure adherence to standards of practice and conduct as outlined in Wisconsin State Statute Chapter VE 7.
Qualifications:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent from an accredited university.
Current DEA License or ability to obtain upon hire.
Active Veterinary State License.
USDA Accreditation or ability to obtain upon hire.
Special Working Conditions:
Ability to sit or stand and work at a computer for long periods.
Comfort working around various animals.
Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
Ability to work more than 40 hours per week occasionally to meet client needs.
Mental capacity for reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language proficiency.
Sufficient ambulatory skills to perform duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for grasping and operating equipment.
Exposure to moderately high noise levels, animals that may bite or scratch, anesthesia, radiation, biological or zoonotic hazards, and medication/controlled substances.
