A corporate client of mine is seeking a Regional Vice President of Operations for their West Region. This Region consists of California, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and Colorado. The successful candidate will be located in the west or central regions.

The Regional Vice President of Operations directs and plans the operations of a defined region to maximize returns on investments and increase productivity, providing leadership and decision-making in matters impacting financial performance, quality of care, and client experience.


As the Regional Vice President of Operations, you will play a central role in optimizing business performance and fostering a positive clinical culture within your assigned region. This involves partnering closely with the Regional Vice President of Medicine to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of strategies. You'll be instrumental in implementing cost-containment strategies to uphold profitability and growth while ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.


Additionally, you'll collaborate with senior leadership to develop and manage organizational initiatives and strategies, providing leadership, guidance, and coaching to your direct reports to maintain an engaged and high-performance workforce. You'll prioritize the development of operational leaders and talent pipelines to support future growth and success.


Ensuring the provision of exceptional patient care while adhering to all relevant regulatory and organizational requirements will be a key focus. You'll also be responsible for driving associate engagement and retention, interacting with all levels of the organization to effectively manage business operations, and interpreting and implementing organizational policies and procedures.

In your role, you'll oversee the application of established policies and effectively manage physical and financial resources to optimize performance and exceed budgetary and key performance indicator targets. 


Collaboration with Vet Relations Manager(s) will be essential in developing and implementing regional marketing plans to drive growth and profitability.

You'll spearhead operational efficiency improvements, encompassing standardization of systems, quality control, safety protocols, site selection, facility design, and client satisfaction initiatives. Additionally, you'll be accountable for staffing, charge capture, and inventory management models, promptly implementing action plans to address any performance issues.


Negotiating and approving clinician agreements, ensuring compliance with training and education requirements, and providing oversight of privacy, security, and risk management aspects are also within your purview. You'll collaborate with internal and external legal counsel to mitigate legal and litigation issues, with a focus on reducing expenses for the organization.

Maintenance of environmental integrity and safety across all facilities within the region will be a priority, along with collaborating with the Business Development team to capitalize on merger and acquisition opportunities. Staying abreast of regional veterinary services market trends and industry issues will inform strategic decision-making to ensure continued business success.


Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. Graduate degree preferred.

· 10+ years’ experience in senior operational leadership.

· Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.

· Works under minimal supervision.

· Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

· Excellent interpersonal, organizational, prioritization of work, and problem-solving skills.

· Travel of 50% required.
